Udhampur administration organises ‘No to Drugs’ walkathon, awareness rallies

To raise awareness among the general public, particularly young people, the district administration, in collaboration with Mission Youth J&K and Department of Social Welfare, organised a series of activities including a walkathon and rallies with the theme “No to Drugs” today.

The rally was flagged off from the DC Office Complex by Deputy Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna. Scores of young people from various schools and colleges, members of youth clubs in the district, staff, officers and officials from various allied departments took part in the rally.

Speaking to the media, the DC advised the youngsters to channelise their energy into positive pursuits such as studying, sports and physical exercise. She praised the efforts of allied departments in organising this mega youth carnival and said that such events should be held regularly to channel the energy of young people.

Jyotsna also advised young people to lead healthy lifestyles to remain stress-free and focused on their goals. During the Mega Youth Carnival, various government departments displayed banners about different schemes for youth awareness and educated them about government schemes run under CSS and by the UT government to help them develop their talents and improve their standards of living in diverse fields.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; ASP, Anwar -Ul-Haq; District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta besides other officials were present in the culmination ceremony.
