The district administration hosted awareness events to mark World Tuberculosis Day. The main event was held at the DC Office complex where Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandey flagged off a student rally that culminated at the District Tuberculosis Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Pandey said that tuberculosis is a serious public health issue that requires collective efforts to prevent and treat. He praised the enthusiastic participation of doctors, students and community members in raising awareness about the disease and urged everyone to work together to eradicate TB from society.

At the District Tuberculosis Centre, speeches were given by ANMT students and lectures were delivered by District Immunisation Officer Dr Vasna and District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Radha Krishan.

DTO Kathua briefed the public about TB causes, symptoms and prevention. He informed them about the provision of supplementary nutritional support of Rs 500 per month through DBT to TB patients under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana.

He also discussed the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, under which nutritional support is given to TB patients by Nikshay Mitras during their treatment.

Programme Associate NCPI Baljeet Kumar and Peer Member (Subhiksha Plus) Ravinder Kumar were also present at the event. ANMT school students were honoured with mementos for their participation in the programme.
