Jaish-e-Mohammad militant killed in Tral encounter

A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was killed in a brief gunfight with forces at Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.Official sources told GNS that acting on a specific information about the presence of 2-3 militants at Aripal village of Pastuna in Tral, the joint team of army’s 42 RR, 35 RR and SOG Budgam, SOG Tral, Laid a tight cordon in the area at around 4:30 a.m today.As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the Aripal village opened fire before fleeing from the spot, sources said, adding that in retaliation, forces opened the fire upon the militants.

“In the firing incident a militant sustained bullet injuries and managed to escape towards nearby forest area”, sources said, adding that two soldiers also sustained bullet injuries and have been hospitalized.Later in the morning, the joint team of forces conducted searches in the nearby forest area where the injured militant found succumbed to injuries, sources said, adding that an AK-47 rifle, 60 rounds and 3 magazines were recovered from his possession.Sources identified the slain as Adil Pathan, a JeM commander of Pakistan.Meanwhile, an operation has been launched in forest to track down the remaining militants who fled away from the village.
