‘The important role of women in nation building can never be ignored and I request all the female voters especially to play their role in the development of Jalandhar parliamentary constituency by exercising right to vote on election day’, said Indian National Congress candidate for Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, who addressed several election meetings in Phillaur assembly constituency on Monday and Tuesday.

As part of her poll campaign, along with Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary visited villages Takhar, Patti Lohara, Ghurka, Rurki, Surja, Kutbewal, Dallewal, and Jand in the constituency.

While addressing people, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary said the Congress party had given her an enormous responsibility and she would take along everyone to fulfil it. She said Chaudhary Santokh Singh was extremely dedicated to his work and had always inspired all of us to work passionately, adding that his contributions would never be forgotten.

Highlighting that perhaps no major party had ever fielded a female candidate from Jalandhar parliamentary constituency, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary urged women to exercise their right to vote on the election day.

“Each woman should exercise her right to vote, as every vote is vital. Voting is our constitutional right and method to get the change that we want. I will work day and night for the empowerment of women,” she added.

Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary thanked people for their love and support shown by them. She said, it is because of the blessing of you all that Chaudhary family has been serving the people for almost a century and I promise to continue this tradition.

Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary condemned the AAP government, saying it was actually the Ad Aadmi government. He said it had failed miserably and the people had lost their confidence in its ability to run the affairs of the state.

Law and order were being flouted openly, and the gangsters were running their networks from jails, using mobile phones and the internet, even giving interviews, and, on the other hand, internet service had been shut down for the common people of Punjab.

He asked the people to awake the government from its deep slumber and urged them to support Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary. Showing tremendous enthusiasm for the Congress candidate, the people said, they would ensure a landslide victory for her in the forthcoming by poll.

Block Rurka Kalan Congress president Rakesh Duggal, Takhar sarpanch Major Singh, Patti Lohara sarpanch Kewal Singh, Ghurka sarpanch Ram Lal, Jand sarpanch Gurmail Ram, Manjit Singh, Nachhattar Singh Rana, Gurmail Singh Lally, Dilbag Singh, Balvir Kumar, Inderjeet Singh, Nachhattar Singh, Balbir Singh Babbu, Rachhpal Singh, Nirmal Surja, Makhan Singh, Ram Lal, Ashwani Kumar, Keshav Kumar, Gurmail Singh, Sukhpreet Singh, Sohan Lal, Kuldeep Kumar, Jamna Das, Master Gurdial Singh, Sucha Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Daljit Singh Mehmi were among those present on these occasions.
