District Police Jammu organised a seminar cum Nukkad Natak under Civic Action Programme to spread awareness on drug abuse Sh Ramnish Gupta SP Hqr Jammu,Sh Surinder Singh SDPO RS Pura and Inspector Vikram Sharma were the resource person from the Police Department.

Ramnish Gupta SP Hqr Jammu in his welcome address draw the attention of all the students to the widespread prevalence of drugs and its negative ill effect on mental and physical growth of Body, social life and family life.

Surinder Singh SDPO RS Pura advised the students to channelize energy in sporting activities to make their future better. He defined Drug Addiction as a compulsive seeking behaviour which is difficult to control and it’s also a physical and psychological dependency towards the drug. 

He also highlighted that the journey of any addiction begins with the “use” and develops into “abuse” and very quickly graduates to becoming an addiction.Sushil Singh Charak Chairman Nations Development Association (NDA) shared various reasons for people resorting to drugs viz peer pressure, relief from Stress, Increase energy, Recreational purpose and status in the society etc. 

He also explained about how drug affects our body, social life and family life. He gave the students tips on the harmful effects of drugs.DDC Bishnah Dharminder Kumar was also told about their roles and responsibilities to prevent the students from drug addiction.

Jammu Police has adopted a unique initative through “Nukkad Nataks” in its anti- drug campaign across the district to spread the message of ill effects of drug abuse. The audience students & youth of the area. They appreciated the Jammu Police for efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.

Ealier “Nukkad Natak” programmes at Government Degree College Bishnah 300 students were present in the programme. Cash rewards of rupees 2000.00 , 1500.00 and 1000.00 to the first, second and third best student speakers respectively, Ten students Nukkad Natak” were also felicitated with Tropy and cash rewards of rupees 10000.00 each.  

 Akriti Sharma, (Student of Integrated History Honors with specialized in culture and Heritage, Scholar,Writer,)Amita Sharma Culture Incharge J&K Police School Jammu and Dr Veena Gupta Medical Officer Department of Ayush were the jury members of the programme. 

 Dr. Neerupam Gupta MBBS Child Speciality and Dr Manmeet Khour BDS ,were the Speaker Gues of the Programme.Govind Chouhan Crime Reporter, and Rajinder Billa Reporter were the Special Guest.Inspector Vikram Sharma SHO Bishnah the proceeding of the programme and presented the vote of thanks.

Others who were present on the occasion were Madhu Dollu Secretary NDA, Prof. staff and students of the Government Degree College Bishnah, Government Boys High Secondary School Bishnah, Government Girls High Secondary School Bishnah,Fatima Convent High School Bishnah,SALGE School Bishnah, SIRAS School Bishnah, R.K.S Girls Higher Secondary School Bishnah, Bikram Memorial High School Bishnah, BSSK High School Chorli, and Birmingham International Public School Bishnah and prominent citizens of the Bishnah.
