DC inaugurates Mega Youth Festival cum Job Fair at GDC Poonch

District Administration Poonch in collaboration with Mission Youth and Employment Department Poonch today organized a Mega Youth festival cum Job Fair to provide more job opportunities to the youth of the district in different agencies.

District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Inder Jeet inaugurated the Job Fair. On the occasion, District Development Council vice chairperson Er. Mohd Ashfaq alongwith Deputy Commissioner distributed keys to beneficiaries under Mumkin scheme. 

Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Rohit Baskotra, Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch, Malik zada Sheraz ul Haq, Gen. Manager DIC Poonch, Dr. Zakir Hussain, DDC member, Choudhary Abdul Gani and other officers of line departments were present in Mega Youth festival cum Job fair.

Various departments and private Companies had established their stalls for awareness regarding self employment schemes. On the occasion, the DC Poonch interacted with job providers and job seekers and advised to adopt transparent and judicious policies for filling the vacancies in the job fair and lauded the effort of the department in arranging a meeting of job seekers and employers in one place. 

He also appealed to the unemployed youth to take a keen interest in self-employment and become successful entrepreneurs to generate sustainable livelihood for themselves and others as well, adding that the Government is committed to their hand-holding under the ambitious Mission Youth Programme.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director Employment, Poonch, Mohd Rafiq informed that about 800 youth participated in this programme. 295 unemployed youth submitted their resume in the job fair and about 91 candidates were shortlisted by 7 different private companies for the next round of selection process. 

The DDE informed that now such Job Fairs will be organized regularly in the district. During the event representatives/ recourse persons from line departments provided awareness about various self-employment generation schemes.
