Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta on Tuesday chaired the meeting of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here at Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to take review of the action taken by the concerned Departments with regard to decisions held in last meeting and formulate action plan to uproot the drug menace and narcotic trade in district.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Benam Tosh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Dubey, PO ICDS Joginder Jasrotia, SDM Ghagwal Ramkesh Sharma, ACD Sidharath Dhiman, ACR Kusum Chib, Additional SP, Assistant Drug Controller, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Information Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Headquarter, SHOs, Dy. Commandants from BSF and other concerned
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on action taken report on various agenda points including IEC activities, feedback boxes status, special PTM in educational institutions, awareness among drivers, functioning of drug de addiction centre, working of control room, illicit cultivation of poppy, enforcement drives etc.
Deputy Commissioner laid emphasis on engagement of youths and social organizations for sustained eradication of drug menace from every nook and corner of the district.
DC also stressed on regular inspections of chemists shops by a team headed by Tehsildars, SHOs and drug controller against sale of scheduled drugs without prescription.
While reiterating the commitment of the government to establish a 100% drug free state, DC said that drug abuse is a serious problem in the district that not only affects individuals but also families and communities.
She said that it is essential to tackle the issue from multiple prospectives, including deterrence, treatment and enforcement. DC stressed upon the Officers of all the line Departments including Enforcement agencies to ensure better coordination in imposing greater deterrence to combat dangerous trade of drug-trafficking.
