Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet who is also chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), today distributed Emergency Response Kits among trained Aapda Mitra volunteers of the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Assiatant Commissioner Revenue, Zahir Ahmed Kaifi, Chief Planing Officer, Maqsood Ahmed and other concerned were present on the occasion.

The volunteers have completed a 12 day training programme under Disaster Response at Central Training Institute Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The district Poonch has a target of hundred volunteer to be trained under the scheme, these volunteer had been identified from different areas of district Poonch and sent in batches to the training institute to get specialised training under the scheme to have firsthand knowledge of handling the situation whenever need arises due to natural calamity, disaster etc. 

After going through the said training, they have been given certificate, identity card and needy equipments in the form of the Emergency Response kits (ERK) under Aapda Mitra Scheme.

The DC outlined the scope and mandate of the trained volunteers who shall be in readiness to tackle and rescue the people during any natural disaster. He said more such training programmes would also be held in near future to train and sensitize the volunteers.
