BIS-JKBO conduct Sensitization programme for District Level Officers at Kulgam

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, today organized a Sensitization programme for the District Level Officers of Kulgam district at Rest House Chawalgam, here.

The programme was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Vikar Ahmad Giri and was attended by SDM Noorabad Bashir Ul Hassan, ACP Shurjeel Ali, Executive Engineers from PWD (R&B), JKPCC, DSWO, AD-FCS&CA, CAO, CAHO, Tehsildars, BDO,  District officers from Legal Metrology and Handicrafts and Handloom.

During the programme, Tilak Raj, Director of BIS-JKBO & Joint Director BIS-JKBO Pankaj Atri,  gave detailed presentation on department specific standards, Standards Formulation, Product Certification, Hallmarking and Compulsory Registration Scheme. 

A demonstration of BIS portal  with title  "Know Your Standards"  through which standards can be easily located and downloaded free of cost was also presented.

Awareness on ISI mark and Hallmark and how to frame specifications for various departmental tenders and GeM portal was imparted during the programme. The BIS Officers also highlighted various initiatives of the BIS in bringing quality products to the customers. 

They said that the aim and objective of the programme is to aware the Heads of Departments in district about the Quality checks of the standard products and laws to control the substandard products in the market.
