Member Parliament Pratibha Singh called on Union Food Minister K.V. Thomas in Krishi Bhawan at New Delhi. Pratibha Singh requested him to allocate additional 14100 MT of sugar to the state to overcome immediate shortage of sugar in the State. She requested the Union Minister to continue with the current system of quota allocation for a period of three more months to switch over to new system in phased manner.
She said that Himachal Pradesh Civil Supply Corporation Limited, which was the nodal agency for procurement of sugar had been making all efforts to procure sugar from open market and requested him to intervene in the matter personally as ration card holders in the State had not been provided sugar since June 2013.
