Social Welfare Department today organized an awareness program on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ at Teachers Bhawan here. The programme was organised with an aim to address the problem of Drug Abuse especially among youth

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda appealed the participants to deliver the message to common masses about the hazards of drug abuse. She encouraged the participants to be a part of campaign. 

Commissioner Secretary also informed the participants that there is a dire need to address reasons which provoke youth towards drugs. She urged the participants to work religiously to eradicate this evil from society.  

Earlier, in his welcome address, Director General, Social Welfare Jammu, Vivek Sharma briefed the participants about Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and said that efforts of Social Welfare Department is to reach out to various sections of society by conducting awareness events, campaigns, road shows, trainings for volunteers, door to door visits and several other interventions which are all aimed towards eradicating drugs and substance abuse in the UT.

On the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary also administered pledge to participants to wean away youth from drugs. During the programme, various activities were organized to aware the participants regarding the harmful effects of drugs A skit was also presented on drug menace by the artists.

Participants were also made aware about the Nasha Mukt helpline number 14446 during the programme.
