Pathaan being the most successful film of 2023 has broken all the records at box-office so far. The performance that the film Pathaan has shown is commendable and is receiving praise globally. With the success of Pathaan, YRF has proved itself best for a spy universe. ‘War’ released in 2019 was a superhit blockbuster film starring Hrithik Roshan as ‘Kabir’ which gave a hope to the spy universe that much more can be done in this. Recently in an interview, the director Siddharth Anand spoke about the expectations from the spy universe.
Amid the success of the film, Siddharth said, “I don’t think this was in the back of anyone’s mind when the 2 Tiger films were made or when War was made. It is after the success of War that we thought of a universe. With the story of Pathaan, we thought this could spin into one as we already have 3 spies with scope for many more.” He added, “We could have got Hrithik or any other actor on board too, but to have Salman Khan and Shah Rukh in a film doing action has not happened before. I think the last when they were doing action together was in 1996 with Karan Arjun. Fortunately, Adi had the IP of Tiger to do this crossover and the result is fantastic”.

He also described that it was only possible with ‘Aditya Chopra’ who suggested that this type of universe can be a future for the film industry and because of this Pathaan is made. On collaborating with Hrithik Roshan, Siddharth said, “Obviously, there was a thought back then, but since we just started amalgamating this universe, it’s too early to bring everyone together. There should be a little thirst of getting this combination, but of course, this crossover will happen.”
The spy thriller film ‘Pathaan’ also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The movie was released on 25 January 2023 and it has been the biggest commercial success for any Bollywood film so far and is breaking all the records at box-office. It has crossed over 630 crores globally.
