National Road Safety Week-2023 Culminates in Kishtwar

The weeklong activities under The National Road Safety Week 2023, culminated today in district Kishtwar. The culmination was marked by a simple but impressive programme held here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex, wherein about 50 Drivers participated.

  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav (IAS) who is also the chairman of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. 

President Municipal Council Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Najjar was the guest of honour. Among others who were present in the programme were President Transport Union Kishtwar B L Shan, CMO Kishtwar Dr Chander Parkash, ARTO Romesh Samotra, DTI Shabir Ahmed, besides staff of ARTO office and trainers from driving institutes of Kishtwar.

During the weeklong celebration various activities were conducted by MVD Kishtwar in collaboration with District Administration, Police and Health authorities which includes the Special camps to check stress and fatigue of drivers, Drive conducted against wrong  parking, awareness camps for drivers, checking of black spots, checking of road safety measures along National Highway, Conduct of Eye check up camp at Bus stand Kishtwar and distribution of IEC material among drivers.

Speaking on the occasion DC Kishtwar shared the data related to the road accidents in the District besides informing the drivers about the various causes of the accident and also roles and responsibilities of drivers to avert them.

DC Kishtwar said that the safety of passengers is the prime responsibility of Drivers. He therefore stressed for strict adherence to the Motor Vehicle Rules. President MC Kishtwar and ARTO Kishtwar also spoke on the occasion. 

The ARTO apprised the participants about the precautionary measures to be adopted while driving. The trainers of the various Driving Institutes were felicitated by MVD during the Programme.

Meanwhile during interaction, the drivers also apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various issues and infrastructure needs. The DC assured them that their grievances and demands will be redressed promptly.

The vote of thanks was presented by ARTO Kishtwar and the programme was concluded.
