A meeting of officers was today held under the chairmanship of Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Mohd Ashraf Bhat to finalize the action plan for the upcoming celebration of National Road Safety Week under ‘Swachhata Pakhwada-2023’ theme.

At the outset, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo briefed the meeting about the importance of Road Safety Week. 

He said that during this period, various activities have been planned to be conducted across the length and breadth of the district in association with the stakeholders viz. Education department, Health, Police, Traffic, SDRF, Civil Society,Traders Federation, NGO, Insurance Companies and other stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC said that this National Road Safety Week event should be seen as an opportunity for aggressive campaigning to promote a culture of road safety among its users. 

He said that recent amendments in the Motor Vehicles Act should be highlighted through various seminars, workshops, events and meetings. Further with the help of banners and pamphlets awareness about traffic rules and regulations set by the government should be spread among the public.

Among other activities  that are slated to take place during National Road Safety Week  2023 include advocacy of road safety, awards and certificates for road safety, good samaritans etc, and cultural programmes highlighting the road safety awareness among general public and student community.
