Wildlife Protection Department organises Trekking expedition in Nandni Wildlife Sanctuary

Department of Wildlife Protection on Saturday organized a trekking programme on Bail Khad- Nandni trek in Nandni Wildlife Sanctuary. About 60 trekkers participated in the trekking programme which was flagged off by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K.

The Participants comprising of children, students, nature enthusiasts and trekkers from various walks of life gathered at Nandni old tunnel. Department of Wildlife Protection had arranged transportation for participants from gathering site to Bail khad i.e starting point of trek.

Participants had a glimpse of the beauty of landscape of Nandni Wildlife Sanctuary. En-route the trek the participants passed through forest area, crossed rivulets and streams and experienced ascent and decent of the trekking route.

 During the flag off, Chief Wildlife Warden explained about do’s and don’ts in the wildlife area. Staff of Department of Wildlife Protection led by Anil Kumar Atri, Wildlife Warden, Jammu accompanied the participants in groups and gave them various kind of  information about plants, animals and landscape during the trekking. 

Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary is home to important wildlife species like Barking deer, Goral, Leopard, Neelgai, Peacock, Jungle fowl etc; The trek started at 10.00 AM and culminated at Nandni at 2.00 PM.

The programme was organized by Anil Kumar Atri, Wildlife Warden, Jammu and Roshan Lal, Range Officer, Nandini under the guidance of Dr. Kumar MK, Regional Wildlife Warden, Jammu.
