The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today took an extensive tour of Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) established under the central sector Scheme for formation and promotion of FPOs in the district to monitor their progress at ground level.
On the occasion, the DC visited Tullamula Milk Producers Dairy Cooperative Society Limited, Zazna Farmers producer company limited and Kirmaniya Fed Producer Company Limited Batwina. During his visit to Tullmula Milk Producers Dairy Cooperative Society Ltd, the DC was briefed about the functioning of the said Dairy Cooperative Society.
It was informed that the cooperative has a membership of 320 Milk producers and is providing employment to 25 youths having appreciable movable and immovable infrastructure worth more than 4 Crores out of its own profit. It was also informed that the society is intending to establish a milk processing and curd packaging unit in the very near future.
The DC complimented the said society for organizing an impressive and fruitful primary level unit of such scale and assured support from District Administration for modernization of the society and stressed upon expansion of its business and membership horizon so that ample opportunities of employment are generated.
Meanwhile, the DC visited Zazna Farmers producer company limited which is formed and promoted by Small farmers Agri business consortium (SFAC) with the CBBO Actech Information System limited having 160 farmers associated with the FPO.
Later, the DC visited Kirmaniya Fed Producer Company Limited Batwina formed and promoted by National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd with CBBO, Indian Society of Agricultural Professional and was informed that 100 farmers are associated with the FPO.
On the occasion the DC inspected various assets of the FPO like Apple Grading Line, Oven and generator. He also inspected the official records and gave necessary instructions for maintaining the official records in the official format. During his visit to FPOs the DC directed CBBOs to provide the necessary professional support for the formation of sustainable FPOs under the Central Sector Scheme.
Meanwhile, the Board of directors and members of FPOs raised several issues and demands for the proper functioning of FPOs for which the DC directed the CEOs and CBBOs to support the farmers to list the demand required for proper functioning of FPOs. Later, the DC also inspected the functioning of Health and Wellness Centre Zazna.
