District Anantnag remained abuzz with activities on the second day of the ‘My Town My Pride’ (MTMP) programme, witnessing large gatherings of public in all the ULBs of Anantnag. The Visiting Officers extensively toured various areas in their allotted Urban Local bodies and inspected several ongoing and completed works. 

Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole visited Town Hall Anantnag and inspected the stalls setup by various departments. He said that the main aim of organizing the My Town My Pride program is to create a sense of belonging and ownership among the urban residents so that they are active collaborators in the development process.

He said that people must cooperate with the Govt by keeping their surroundings clean, segregating waste as per directions, judiciously using electricity and water among other things. He said that rights and duties complement each other and while the citizens have a right to basic amenities, they must also play their part in the development of the urban areas. 

At Anantnag, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Special Secretary to the Government, Finance Department (addl. charge CEO, JK ERA and Mission Director, Jal Jeewan Mission) accompanied by Manzoor Ahmad and Ahmad Hussain, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Kashmir as well as CEO MC Anantnag held a detailed review with various officials of MC Anantnag of the ongoing works in the MC. 

Various important issues including availability of parking spaces, decongestion plan for the town, upcoming projects were discussed during the review. Dr Syed Abid and the other visiting officers at MC Anantnag later visited the under-construction Library cum Community Hall, General Bus Stand, laid the foundation stone of the proposed parking space at Mehandi Kadal, inspected the functioning of 4 KLD sewage treatment plant at Mehandi Kadal, laid the foundation stone for the beautification of Bund, Aripath Road along New Byepass and visited ITI Anantnag and interacted with the students there.

Similarly, in other ULBs the visiting officers were seen inspecting ongoing projects, inaugurating completed works and laying the foundation of new projects, interacting with people and patiently listening to their demands. The visiting officers also visited various public institutions and inspected their functioning. 

People in large numbers attended the events in various ULBs. They were seen soliciting information regarding various schemes at the departmental stalls and actively putting forth their opinion during formulation of various plans. 

People also interacted with the visiting officers and shared their priorities in terms of development and assured of complete support in keeping the towns clean.
