Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol, Talat Parvaiz Rohellah, today inaugurated “My Town My Pride 2.0” programme in Municipal Committee, Pulwama. “My Town, My Pride’, aims to deliver public services at doorsteps, build developmental initiatives on the feedback, cooperation and participation from people and strengthen strong and vibrant local self-governance,” Commissioner maintained.

“It is the responsibility of every officer to ensure integrated development concepts and its execution,” he observed. During the Shehri Jan Abhiyan, Commissioner said that the government is determined to take due care of interests of Youth for which a number of measures have been initiated. 

He said that “My Town My Pride 2.0” programme is aimed at to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes. 

He added that the purpose behind B2V is to strengthen the roots of good governance in J&K and empower the common people in all respects. He was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, SSP Pulwama, Ghulam Jeelani, ADDC, Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz besides other district officers.

Commissioner inspected the stalls installed by different departments and enquired about the benefits being provided by these departments to the general masses under their respective schemes. He enquired about the grievances redressal mechanism being adopted by them to satiate public aspirations.

He interacted with the people and listened to their issues and grievances. Later, he distributed PMAY cheques, Age certificates, Land passbooks, Golden cards, income and domicile certificates besides giving away baby kits to newly born girl children under BBBP. He also distributed hearing aids, UDID cards among the beneficiaries.

On the occasion, school children displayed various sports activities like Cultural programmes, Punjabi songs, Skit regarding sanitation, Ban on polythene etc. PRIs, social activists, trader unions, central auqaf committee Pulwama and local welfare committee members met the visiting officer and raised their demands and issues.

They demanded beautification of the town, management of dumping sites, upkeep of slaughter houses, maintenance of street lights besides beautification of Dhobi Khul. Commissioner assured the delegations that the administration is committed to work for decongestion, rejuvenation and beautification of the cities. 

Together, with active participation of public, we can transform cities into vibrant urban economic centres,” commissioner said. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the Shehri Jan Abhiyan has been organized to spread awareness among the people regarding various government initiatives in place for the welfare of the citizens, assess needs for planned development of urban areas.

He apprised the visiting officer that every effort is being made to ensure delivery of public welfare services and the district administration is committed to ensure 100 percent coverage of eligible genuine beneficiaries.DC said that inputs of the public under the overall supervision of PRI members and in consultation with the departments will be the basis of formulation of resource mobilization plans. 

Pertinently, “My Town My Pride 2.0” programme was held in all five  municipalities of the district like MC Khrew  with visiting officer, Mohammad Younis Malik, Joint Financial Commissioner Agrarian Reforms, MC Tral with visiting officer Dr Firdous Ahmad Giri, Secretary J&K BOPEE, MC Pampore with visiting officer Purnima Mittal, Director Animal husbandry Kashmir and MC Awantipora with visiting officer Ashiq Hussain Lily where detailed discussion was held with the said Visiting officers by the district officers regarding different development projects. Besides, issues being faced by the common masses of different panchayats were listened to by the Visiting Officers.

A number of grievances were solved on the spot and rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt redressal.
