'International World Disabilities Day' celebrated at Budgam

In connection with 'International World Disabilities Day', an impressive function was today organized by Wheel Chair Cricket Association J&K duly supported by District Administration at Town Hall Budgam. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid presided over the occasion.

The day long function was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Nasir Ahmad; ACR Budgam Muzamil Ahmad; District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, Farhana Asgar; District Information officer Budgam, Iram Khan; Chairman Wheel Chair Cricket Association, representative from DLSA Budgam, Health and other concerned NGOs and organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said there are ample special qualities and capabilities in specially abled persons which divine power has given them, and these qualities has made these people real gems.He appreciated people with special abilities and said that they are always at forefront be it in business, sports, studies etc.

The DC said Administration is always there to support them in fulfilling their dreams. He said special focus is being given to ensure the benefits of welfare scheme reach the specially-abled target groups.

On the occasion, ADC Budgam said that administration is always on fore front to help specially abled people, there are many welfare schemes launched by various departments which are very helpful in their overall development.

DSWO said the Social Welfare department is always there at the back of these persons. She said already various schemes of the department has uplifted their morale particularly the department always provides them items like tricycles, hearing aids, scooties,after thorough scrutiny and considering the merit. 

She said they are on the job to identify and locate all such persons as per status of their disability and this will enable them to submit requirement for future distribution. She further said that the department of Social Welfare is going to construct a complex for specially abled persons for which land has already been identified and DPR of the same is submitted for approval.

The function was also addressed by other speakers present on the occasion. A large number of specially abled persons, besides wheel chair Cricket Association Players attended the function.Four persons who are selected for playing international cricket from District Budgam were also felicitated on the occasion.
