The Motor Vehicle Department, in collaboration with the Health Department, today organised a free medical camp for drivers and conductors of commercial vehicles here at Bus Stand Kalakote. The program was organised on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.

During the camp the doctors screened participants for general health parameters such as sugar and blood pressure levels, besides eyesight issues etc. Speaking at the event, the ARTO said that the common traffic violations such as over-speeding, jumping traffic signals, drunken driving, unnecessary honking, violations of designated traffic zones, not wearing seat belts, riding without helmets, modification of two-wheelers and the use of mobile phones while driving, among others are main cause of the road mishaps.

He urged the drivers to be mindful of duties and responsibilities while driving. “Having self restraint in observing speeding limits is a way forward towards changing driving behaviours,” he added. The ARTO motivated the drivers to follow all the precautions and road safety measures while driving the vehicle and also advised them to inform their near and dear ones to follow precautionary measures.
