The two Day workshop on the theme “India: The Mother of Democracy” organized to celebrate 73rd anniversary of Constitution  Adoption Day, Sawidhan Diwas 2022, concluded at Government College for Women Udhampur with the valedictory function held the other day.

The event was organized by Shikshit Bharat club and Department of Music, in collaboration with Department of Political Science as Jan Bhagidari, to generate awareness about Political Code, Structure, Procedure, Powers and duties of Govt. fundamental right, Directive  Principles and duties of Citizens

Additional Superintendent of Police,  Anwaar-Ul-Haq, District Police  Udhampur was the  Chief guest. The Valedictory function began with offering of floral tribute to the father of Indian constitution Bharat Ratna, Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and reciting of national anthem.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of GCW Udhampur and the organizing committee of the Workshop for creating awareness among the students about the Indian constitution. He highlighted that this document guarantees Justice, Equality, Liberty, besides promoting fraternity among masses. 

He called upon all the students to stay committed to their fundamental duties, because fundamental rights of an individual are offshoots of fundamental duties of another individual. The Principal of the college, Dr. Monika Sharma, in her address, said that “Our constitution is the sacred book and showers eternal values that remain our guiding principles.”

Earlier, Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, recipient of president medal for meritorious services in civil defence, was chief resource person, who recited a poem on Indian constitution, which touched the heart and mind of everyone present in the hall.

A colorful cultural program and a one act play BUDDHI KAKI of Munshi Prem Chand was also presented by the students of the college. The entire Program was convened under the convenorship of Prof. Yash Paul and Co-convenor Prof. Yash Kumar.

Among others present were Dr.Seema Sharma, HOD Music,  Kewal Kumar, HOD Chemistry, Dr. Sanjeet Kour, HOD Zoology, Dr. Kewel Kumar, Prof. Sarika Mahajan, Dr. Shaveta Sharma, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Prof. Sanjay Kumar [PO NSS], Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, Mushtaq Ahmed, HOD Hindi, Taniya Akhter, HOD English, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Other senior faculties and large number of students. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Mool Raj, HOD Urdu.
