The three Day Workshop on “Drug De-addiction and Special rights for women” concluded here at Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur.The workshop was organized by the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and NSS Unit of GCW Udhampur in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control society under the guidance of Principal of the College, Dr. Monika Sharma.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Anwaar Ul-Haq was the chief guest at the valedictory function, while Coordinator Special Cell for Women, UT of J&K and Ladakh, Balwant Singh was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, lauded the   GCW Udhampur for organizing such a wonderful workshop. He further added that such workshops are the need of the hour for every educational institution to generate awareness among the youth as well as society. 

Besides briefing about the concept of Zero FIR, he also spoke about the legal rights for women as well as men.Earlier, Principal of the College, Dr. Monika Sharma, in her address appreciated the efforts of the organizers for conducting this workshop which will go a long way to spread awareness among the students as well as the general masses. 

She also highlighted the different issues of drug abuse and special rights for women.Guest of honour, Balwant Singh also congratulated the Principal and Staff of the college for organizing this grand event. He also acquainted the audiences with various special rights for women mentioned in the Constitution of India.

A brief report on the 3 Day workshop was presented by Assistant Professor of History, Yash Paul, besides a self composed motivational poem on drug de-addiction was recited by Associate Professor of Urdu, Dr. Mool Raj.

The participating  students also shared their experiences and knowledge they gained during the workshop.Meanwhile, a theme based motivational song on women empowerment was presented by students of GCW Udhampur along with the resource persons, Azra Parveen, Afia Nazir and Devika Sharma.

Later, Dignitaries, staff of the college along with students participated in a pledge taking ceremony on drug de addiction.The Chief Guest also distributed mementos and certificates among the resource persons and participants on the occasion.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Radhika Sharma -a student of Sem-V, while the formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Kewal Kumar, Convenor Red Ribbon Club. Dr. Seema Sharma,  Kewal Kumar,  Ashni Devi, Dr. Ashok Kumar,  Sarika Mahajan,  Suneel Singh, Mr Yash Paul,  Tania Akhter,  Rajinder Singh, Ms Pooja Bharti,  Yash Kumar,  Arun Gupta and large number of students were also present on the occasion.
