Recently, an update on the Sukhna Lake Murder case has been added. According to a senior police source, the murder of a Jalandhar woman who was discovered dead close to Sukhna Lake last Friday has been connected to the Chandigarh Police's arrest of the victim's father, a Punjab police officer.
The police, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed that the victim, 22, and the suspect, who is also a resident of Jalandhar, were romantically involved. She was known as Anjali. Police stated that the woman allegedly begged the suspect for cash. According to sources, the individual was detained based on scientific evidence. They further mentioned that the suspect is said to have admitted to the crime.

Chandigarh senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shruti Arora, while addressing a press conference, said, “The victim had been in a relationship with the accused, Jagroop, and had been pressuring him to marry her. However, he was not keen on it, so he strangulated her with her own dupatta.”
The accused, who has been alleged to murder Anjali is named Jagroop Singh. Singh is 24 and was waiting to join the Punjab Police on humanitarian grounds following the passing of his father, a head constable, who has been identified as the culprit.
Meanwhile, a group of medical professionals performed the post-mortem examination on Saturday at the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. The deceased is survived by her parents, two brothers, and a sister.
