Co-curricular and Cultural Activities Committee of Government Degree College Pouni today organised a Rangoli Competition to mark Diwali Celebration in the college premises, under the supervision of the College Principal, Prof Rajni Bhagat.

The said competition was based on the theme of Diwali- A Festival of Happiness. Prof. U S Liza, Convener of the Cultural Committee administered the whole event from start to end with the cooperation of   the staff members, Dr. Prem Singh, Dr. Varsha Kapoor, Prof. Balbir Kumar, Dr. Tarseem Kumar, Prof. Jaspal Singh, and  Tanpreet Singh.

The Government Degree College Pouni geared up to celebrate the festival of light with much fanfare. Rangoli is one of the most traditional art forms showcased during Diwali festival and GDC Pouni witnessed an enormous amount of participation from all the Semesters.

Rangoli designs were created at the entrance of College not just for decorative purposes, but it is believed that it is a welcome sign for Goddess Lakshmi. Students created a pattern of their choice and then filled in the design with their preferred choice of colours, flowers and diyas.

The idea behind this Competition is to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly way. Dr. Varsha Kapoor, Prof. Balbir Kumar, Dr. Tarseem Kumar and Mr. Tanpreet Singh were the Jury members who evaluated all the Rangolis made by the students. 

Rangoli made by Neha, Aditi, Neha, Sonika Devi, Sonali, Ramta declared as best in the competition, while Rangoli made by Balwinder, Rohit, Balbir, Vishali and Anjali was declared as second best, and Rangoli by Abhedika, Sarishta, Palvi, Surbhi, khawahish, and Neha as third best.

Prof. Rajni Bhagat, in her address, appreciated the efforts put in by the students. She also applauded all the Professors who acted as a catalyst in developing the creative mindset of the students.
