District Legal Services Authority Udhampur today organized an Awareness Program under Fourth Phase of "Back to Village Programme (B2V4), 2022 on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Chairman DLSA Udhampur, Y. P. Bourney (Pr. Distt.& Sessions Judge Udhampur) and overall supervision of Secretary District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Ms. Rajni Sharma in Collaboration with Block Development Office Udhampur and Panchayat Battal at Village Battal. 

Resource Person of the programme was Panel Lawyer Adv. Sanjeet Kumar.The resource person for the programme sensitized the gathering about the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and shared valuable knowledge on the subject with the participants of this programme. 

The participants were explained about the Importance of the elder people and proper maintenance of them as they are a vital part of this society. The elder people need extra care and protection which is guaranteed by the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

Later, the Secretary District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Ms. Rajni Sharma thanked the resource person and other participants for participating in the awareness programme and highlighted that senior citizens need to be treated with utmost respect as they are the pillars of our society. 

She also stressed that Legal Services Institutions are duty bound to provide legal aid and legal awareness to all the distressed sections of the society especially at the Village level. Also Secretary DLSA Udhampur explained to the participants about the initiative of the Back to Village Programme run by the Government.

The gathering included Sarpanch Ballian, Man Mohan Raina and Sarpanch Battal, Sunita Devi, members of Panchayat Battal, Panchayat Ballian and people from adjoining villages of Battal and Ballian.PLV Sham Lal Sharma assisted in the smooth conduct of the Programme.
