Election Department, under the aegis of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Ramban, Mussarat Islam, conducted a series of awareness activities across the district under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme to educate the prospective voters about the Special Summary Revision 2022.
The programmes under SVEEP were organized in Government Higher Secondary School, Thatharka and Kanthi of District Ramban in which hundreds of students, staff, PRIs and the general public participated.
Principal of the host School, Yograj Jasrotia dwelt in detail about the Special Summary Revision and importance of being a voter. He threw light on various aspects of being a voter, and urged upon the age-specific students who have attained the 18 years on 1st Oct 2022 to enroll themselves in the electoral roll.
The resource persons also highlighted the importance of greater participation of voters and importance of "Right to vote" in a democracy.A voter pledge was also administered to participants to motivate them to register themselves as a voter in Electoral Rolls, besides educating them about the online portal for registration of voters’ on the National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) and Mobile Voter Helpline App.
Meanwhile, the students presented various activities including speeches, skits based on the registration of newly eligible voters, their participation in the electoral process, songs and other cultural activities, besides a poster-making and slogans writing competition was also held.The Principal distributed prizes among students who participated in activities on the occasion.
