Agriculture Production Department Anantnag celebrated "World Food Day" on 16th October in all Agriculture zones of Anantnag. The theme of this years celebrations chosen by FAO was "Leave NO ONE Behind". 

On the Occasion at Mattan, Chief Agriculture officer Anantnag Aijaz Hussain Dar highlighted the importance of celebrating World Food Day and said that future' of food is in our hands and no body should be left hungry or made to suffer from any form of malnutrition.

In his address he stated that we need sustainable agri-food systems that are capable of nourishing 10 billion people by 2050. He emphasized on spreading awareness among the general masses about reducing food losses and wastage and in view of food shortage he stressed on reviving food systems.

 Further, the role of department in introduction of Agri-Mandis and prefab marketing structures and refrigerated Vans in the district was highlighted which will uplift the economic status of farmers and facilitate the marketing of Agriculture produce in a more suitable way.

He also encouraged farmers to adopt new biofortified varieties which have been aimed to correct the malnutrition in the general masses. He emphasized on adoption of Farm Mechanization, Protected cultivation, Crop Diversifications, creation of FPOS and Food processing units to enhance the quality food production by large.

Besides Chief AgricultureOfficer,  Fida Hussain Shah District Agriculture Officer Inputs Anantnag;  Hilal Ahmad Geeri SMS Achabal; Vijay Beer Singh SDAO, Dooru; Abid Ali Khan SDAO Achabal;  Iftikhar Ahmad Naikoo, Agriculture Assistant Inputs Pahalgam and progressive farmers of the District attended the celebrations at Mattan. 

Sub Divisional Agriculture officers delivered speeches and addressed the farmers and staff in their jurisdiction about the importance of food in the current scenario. The celebrations were held at Wandevalgam Shangus, Sagam, Qaimoh, Qazigund, Verinag, Ashajipora, Batkote, Kitchen garden Bijbehara, Assistant Soil Chemist Lab Bijbehara and Arapath vegetable garden Anantnag.Agriculture Extension Officer Aishmuqam celebrated World Food day in collaboration with Tehsil Supply.
