Students Welfare Committee, Government College for Women Udhampur, today organized Mehndi competition to mark the Karwachauth celebration, with the theme “MEHNDI ADORNS THE HANDS, AND LIFE TAKES ON NEW COLORS”.

Dr. Monika Sharma, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest. In her virtual address, Dr. Monika Sharma said that there are so many reasons to be happy and our festivals are one of them.Dr. Monika Sharma applauded the efforts of the Student welfare committee for organizing such events helpful in the promotion of culture, communal harmony and responsibility among students.

 The entire event was organized under the convener ship of Prof. Sumita Rao, who with the help of committee members managed all requisitions in making the event successful.Earlier, in her welcome address, the convener of the Club highlighted the vision of Mehandi competition. 

She urged that various designs of Mehandi symbolises good health, Fertility, Wisdom, Protection and Spiritual enlightenment.Around 42 students of the college participated in the programme. Anjali, Bharti Ratta and Sukrirti Sharma, of Sem II, IV and Ist respectively were adjudged first, second, and third, while consolation prizes were bagged by Sheena and Sidanta of Sem I. 

The competition was  judged by Ashni Devi, Associate Prof of Botany, Dr. Kewal Kumar Associate Prof. of Botany and Ruksana Kousar , Assistant Prof of Education.
