To mark World Mental Health Day, an awareness camp was organized by the District Health Society Ramban in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Ramban, here in the District Hospital.The programme was organized on the theme “Mental Health and Well Being for all, a global priority." under the supervision of the Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital, Ramban, Dr. Mehboob Khan.
On the occasion presided over by the Block Medical Officer, Ukhral who is also the Programme Officer, Mental Health for District Ramban, Dr. Mohammed Iqbal Malik educated the patients, their attendants and hospital staff about the causes and symptoms of various mental illnesses. Other experts also spoke on the occasion.
The participants were advised to go for treatment of any mental illness just like any physical illness. “Any person suffering with should immediately consult a psychiatrist without caring for any social stigma and not a sorcerer, as nowadays every psychiatric disease has a treatment.
Dr. Iqbal informed that under the District Mental Health Programme, a Mental Health Centre and a Drug De-addiction Centre was functional in District Hospital, under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Ramban Kamal Zadoo where Doctors examine the patients every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
