District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kishtwar  met today here in the conference Hall of DC office complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav to discuss District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) aimed at evolving an effective standard operating procedure to deal with disaster situations in the district.

ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma,ACR Kishtwar Varunjeet Singh Charak,SDM Paddar Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma,Dy-SP (DAR) Zia-ul-Haq, Account Officer DC office Kishtwar Imran Ahmed Kichloo,secretary Red Cross Sheikh Asgar, officers from all line departments of the district, Tehsildars, besides representatives of SDRF, Red Cross and Aapda Mitra attended the meeting.

Extensive discussions were held on developing a responsive and effective disaster management mechanism through a robust institutional framework in the district.The discussions covered a wide range of aspects including duties and responsibilities of different departments and officers and resources that need to be made available and their effective use under a well-organised guiding mechanism.

The DC Kishtwar said that in addition to the workforce available with the district administration, a network of volunteers under Red Cross, Aapda Mitra, SDRF needs to be built in all zones of the district under a proper incentivised mechanism which will ensure their availability at the time of need.

 Numerous other aspects and requirements like holding of regular training programmes and disaster drills and development of generic task force teams at block, Sub-Division, tehsil levels to strengthen and finalise the disaster management plan for the district were also discussed in the meeting.

The DC highlighted focus areas and requirements specific to the Kishtwar district and called for attention thereto while formulating a plan. He also emphasised on the importance of devising micro-level and macro-level plans that will institutionalise disaster management in the district through a robust and responsive mechanism.

He said the idea was to make preparedness for dealing with disaster situations in the district an effortless exercise and response and mitigation a well-organised effort as part of an all-inclusive and coordinated plan.

Meanwhile, District heads of the line departments were asked to update the data of equipment procured and available with their departments on the IDRN portal.
