Poshan Mah : ICDS Anantnag organises 659 rallies in September, 2022

To commemorate Poshan Mah, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Anantnag has organized more than 659 rallies in the month of September 2022.The rallies were led by CDPOs and supervisors of ICDS and witnessed the participation by beneficiaries under Poshan Abhiyan including lactating mothers and children as well as Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. 

District Programme Officer, ICDS Anantnag said that Jan Andolan and community mobilization are critical factors for POSHAN Abhiyan. He said through these awareness rallies, information is disseminated among the public regarding the importance of healthy nutrition of the mother and children for overall development of the child. 

He said the main themes of these rallies were awareness regarding anemia and check-up camps, awareness camp on healthy dietary practices, enrollment drive for pre-primary education in AWCs, immunization and its importance and nutrition awareness.

 Awareness under the aegis of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan was also held. He said in addition to this, POSHAN pledges were administered in schools.POSHAN Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) is Government’s flagship programme to improve nutritional status of children up to 6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to achieve specific targets for reduction in low birth weight babies, stunting growth, under nutrition and prevalence of anemia over next three years. In order to give momentum to POSHAN Abhiyaan, September each year is celebrated as Poshan Mah.

During this month activities related to nutrition awareness are carried out at the grass roots level.
