A daylong meeting cum training program on Anti Tobacco campaign was today organised  for DLCC and Key stakeholders under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Poonch (Chairman DLCC), Inder Jeet here at DC office Complex Poonch.

ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain; Chief Medical Officer Poonch, Dr. Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; ARTO, Additional SP, Chief Education Officer, District Agriculture Officer,  CEO Municipality, DIO, NIC,  Principal GDC Poonch,  Tehsildar Haveli,  BDOs , ZEOs, State Programme Coordinator NTCP, Medical Superintendent DH Poonch, BMO Mandi,Mendhar, Surankote, District Programme Management Unit, DISM, DPC, CHO were present on the occasion.

Welcome address and overview of the meeting was presented by CMO Dr. Shamim Bhatti after which PPT was presented by Dr. Nasir, State Programme Coordinator (NTCP).All the major issues were discussed with the officers/officials and after a brief discussion, the District Magistrate directed the key stakeholders and DLCC members to put in extra efforts to make District Poonch Tobacco Free.

The DC directed the Chief Education Officer to launch  a massive awareness campaign in the schools  to spread awareness among the children about the harmful effects of tobacco .Further, the enforcement committee was directed to strictly enforce the provisions of COTPA ACT-2003 and make public places smoke-free and livable. The District Magistrate also directed the District officers to start mass IEC by way of displaying hoardings and distributing pamphlets at prominent places.
