DDC Pulwama inaugurates one week orientation program of Fencing - a Combat Game in Rajpora

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today inaugurated a one week orientation cum capacity building programme of Fencing game for teachers, coaches and sports persons.Chief Education Officer Pulwama, District Youth Services and Sports officer, officials of District Youth Services and Sports, other concerned officials and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC welcomed the participants for participating in the orientation programme and said that such orientation programmes play a vital role in sharpening skills and acquaint the stakeholders with new trends of the game.

He said that this programme is the part of initiative the District Administration has taken to engage youth in sporting activities. He added that the District Administration is committed to involve youth in positive activities so that their energy is channelized in the right direction.

The DDC said Administration is closely monitoring the ongoing developmental works on various stadiums to give impetus to the sports activities in the district. He added that such training will be imparted in future also so that the youth can compete in national and international level competitions.

It is pertinent to mention that Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also saber); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics.
