Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) department, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Directorate of Ayush J&K as well as progress on implementation National Ayush Mission.During the meeting, a detailed discussion on National Ayush Mission was held wherein all the components of National Ayush Mission were discussed besides Medicinal Plant Sector was also deliberated upon.

Speaking during the meeting, the Secretary impressed upon the officers that all the under construction projects be taken up on priority and completed well in stipulated time. He emphasized that screening of lifestyle disorders like Hypertension, Obesity and Diabetes Miletus shall be started in all Ayush Health and Wellness Centers.

The Secretary, also stressed that Bio-Metric attendance system be installed in all the field institutions and attendance be monitored twice a day.During the meeting, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Ayush J&K, gave a detailed presentation on Ayush and other achievements of the directorate. He also presented Physical and Financial Progress of NABARD Projects and Progress of UT Capex Projects being undertaken by the Directorate of Ayush.

The director also informed the meeting that Institute of High Altitude Medicinal Plants is coming up at Baderwah Doda and work on the project has already started. He added that three Medicinal Plant Nurseries are also being established at Samba, Baderwah and Gurez.

Meanwhile, Bhupinder Kumar, also chaired another meeting of senior officers of Health and Medical Education Department to discuss the issues regarding organizing of Mega Blood Donation Camps across J&K from 17th September to 1st october,2022.

The meeting was attended by MD, NHM, Principals of GMCs, DG, Family Welfare, Additional Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Director Health Services Kashmir and other concerned officers.Speaking during the meeting, the Secretary instructed Director Health Services, Kashmir and Jammu to ensure that voluntary blood donation camps are organized in all the districts of J&K.

Observing that blood donation camps increases stock of blood units in blood bank, the Secretary asserted upon the officers that blood donation camp should be held in neat and clean manner for safety of patient/recipients as well as blood donor. He laid particular emphasis on pre-camp awareness and publicity through IEC activities involving community and media.

The Secretary also directed CMO’s of both the division to register camps on Rakt-kosh immediately and involve both NGO’s and private hospitals for same.Regarding blood component separation units (BCSU), the Secretary directed concerned districts who have not applied for licenses to apply for same by 15th of September, so that these facilities are operationlised in order to promote optimum utilization of all the blood components.

Later on, Bhupinder Kumar also convened a meeting of senior officers of Health and Medical Education Department to review the preparedness related to Dengue in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.During the meeting, the Secretary asked officers to create awareness about the prevention of diseases amongst the public and also carry out the fumigation in the identified places, besides taking all necessary measures to ensure curtailment of the disease.

Kumar also directed the Principals of the Govt. Medical Colleges as well as Director’s of both divisions that all the diagnostic and curative facilities are made available in their respective institutions.
