Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)  Kishtwar, Kishori Lal Sharma today convened a meeting of line departments to discuss the   activities being carried out under Nasha Mukt Jammu &  Kashmir Abhiyan in the district.The meeting was attended by ACD Kishtwar Atul Dutt Sharma,DPO Kishtwar Sunil Bhutyal, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed,CDPOs,CMO, Principals and representatives of various Educational institutions and other line departments.

At the outset, ADC Kishtwar apprised the meeting about the   responsibilities of each department and also discussed the plan to intensify the campaign against menace of drug/substance abuse in the society particularly among the youth.He urged the heads of line departments to work in synergy and adopt a multi-pronged strategy to educate the youth about this menace.

ADC Kishtwar informed that the Social Welfare Department will be Nodal Department to carry out various activities during the campaign and Shall coordinate the training of volunteers pooled out from other departments to effectively disseminate the awareness in this regard.

He asked the concerned to rope in the PRIs, NGOs, Health and social workers, School and collage mates in the mission to make people aware besides shall identify drug peddlers and victims in their areas so that necessary corrective measures are made in time.

The School Education Department was asked to conduct the awareness activities in schools and institutions on a daily basis and make students as ambassadors for wide dissemination of messages against Drug abuse.Health and police Departments  were asked to intensify the crackdown at chemist shops and ensure that proper records and registers are maintained and no Psychotropic drugs are sold without valid prescriptions at these shops.

Besides Police, Excise and  Agriculture Departments were asked to conduct poppy and Cannabis destruction drives at hotspot areas.Information, Tourism, Culture and District Youth Service  & Sports Departments were asked to conduct a wide range of cultural, tourism and sports activities to divert the Youths from Drugs Abuse and also strengthen the awareness activities utilising recreational models of awareness to achieve tangible results in combating the menace.All the departments were asked to share details of activities carried out by them on a daily basis to the district Nodal officer.
