Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone, on Tuesday exhorted upon the teachers to impart quality education coupled with high moral values to students enabling them lead the society towards a better tomorrow.The Minister was interacting with teachers during his visit to Government Degree Collage Poonch, here today. During the visit, Lone inspected pace of construction work on new administrative block of the college coming up at a cost of Rs.2.40 crore, a multi story building which is in the final stage of completion.Responding to the demand of additional funds for the block, the Minister assured that the required funds would be provided for timely completion of the project.
Lone asked the concerned authorities to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for construction of a college auditorium and an exanimation hall. He further directed the Executive Engineer PWD to purchase furniture for class rooms of the college for which funds will be provided.During his inspection to the faculty blocks of the college, the Minister directed the college administration to submit DPR for face lifting of present college main block.The Minister was accompanied by MLA, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, MLC Jahangir Hussain Mir, DDC, S.A.Khan, Principal S. Tajinder Singh, and other senior district officers.
Earlier, the Minister visited Sukha –Katha, Dungus, Azad Mohalla, Shanker Nagar and adjoining areas to assess the damage caused by flash flood in Poonch due to heavy rains and assured the locals that he will recommend a proper relief package for them.Meanwhile, the Minister paid rich tributes to late Ghulam Mohammad Jan, Ex-MLA Haveli on his 6th death anniversary in a function organised by MLA Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan at Dak Bunglow Poonch.
