Union Government will shortly convene Revenue Ministers conference to discuss the complex issues relating to revenue administration in the country said Himachal Revenue Minister Thakur Kaul Singh after meeting with Union Rural Development Minister Shri Jai Ram Ramesh in New Delhi today.
He urged the Government of India for introduction of satellite based settlement procedure in the State to modernize the entire revenue record and said that the old system of settlement was full of flaws which leads to various disputes at all levels. He said that satellite based settlement procedure had been introduced as experimental basis in few villages in Mandi, Sirmour and Kangra districts which had improved the revenue administration and had facilitated the common villagers as well as revenue officials.
He said that satellite based settlement procedure would be technology friendly and it could be uploaded on the website which can be assessed through common service centres set up at village level throughout the State. He requested the Union Government to provide technical and expert training to the revenue staff of the State Government for introducing latest technology in revenue administration at grass root level. He said that Union Rural Development Minister, Shri Jai Ram Ramesh would shortly visit the State to assess the impact of various centrally sponsored schemes in the State and to inspect various on going development projects in the State.
