A Career Counselling cum guidance session was today organized by District employment and Counselling centre Kulgam in Collaboration with Department of Computer Science at Govt Degree College Kulgam in which more than one hundred students from the Department of Computer Science participated.

Incharge Principal, Govt Degree College, Kulgam, Dr Shabir Ahmad Padder, HOD Computer Science Department Dr Sajad Ahmad Shah, Prof  Shabir Ahmad Hakim, Prof Irshad Ahmad Lone and other faculty members from Computer Science Department,  Abid Nisar YP and  Riyaz Ahmad Dar,  Resource Person from Employment Department were present on the occasion.

The main focus of the session was awareness about the Digi Saksham programme to help build skills of rural youth in the fields of Computer Science and IT.On spot registrations on NCS, DigiSakhsham portals were made.Students were counseled about various career opportunities that can be availed through these skills and programs.

A brief overview of the employment scenario and job market trends was also given to the students. Students were also made aware about various self employment schemes of the government, and emphasis was laid on entrepreneurship and self employment.

A live demonstration of the registration on the employment portal ( jakemp.nic.in) was also done in the session. About 50 registrations on the employment portal were made on spot.
