A mega event was today organised in Bhaderwah town to mark Bijli Mahotsav being celebrated to promote Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya, Power @ 2047 campaign being held  under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was organised by the Ministry of Power in association with District Administration, NHPC & JPDCL here at Community Hall Bhaderwah.

The Bijli Mahotsav programmes are being used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Centre Governments and to highlight the key achievements in the power sector.Dhananter Singh Kotwal, Chairman DDC Doda;   Sangeeta Rani Bhagat VC DDC Doda; Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma, and General Manager (Electrical) NHPC, Mithilesh Dinkar inaugurated the Bijli Mahotsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Besides, BDC Chairman Bhaderwah Omi Chand; DDC Councillor Changa Nadeem Sharief; DDC Councillor Bhaderwah West Thakur Yudhvir; ADDC Doda Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti; ADC Bhaderwah Chowdhary Dil Mir; President MC Bhaderwah Dr Shahid Mughal; Senior Manager NHPC (HR) Ashok Dhanwal; Officials of NHPC Kishtwar and JPDCL and public representatives were also present.

 During the Mahotsav, the dignitaries highlighted the benefits of electricity and the unprecedented growth achieved by the power sector over the past few years.A cultural variety programme, Nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector were also held to highlight the achievements made by the Country in the Power Sector. The event  also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences.

Dhananter Singh Kotwal, while addressing the gathering, said that the government was doing remarkable work in the field of electricity. The local administration is implementing numerous schemes, and the public is getting benefited. He informed that new Hydropower Projects are being created in the Chenab region which shall augment the existing power supply.

The Deputy Commissioner Doda, in his address, highlighted the extraordinary achievements made by the Country during the last few years in the electricity sector. He urged upon the public to Cooperate with the department in saving the electricity by its judicious use and install smart meters for uninterrupted power supply. SE JPDCL Kishtwar Circle gave detailed information about the programs being run for the public.
