District Environment Committee meeting was taken by Amit Talwar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar and Smt. Pooja Sayal, PCS, ADC, SAS Nagar with Officers of different stake holder departments of the district to review the implementations of District Environment Plan for SAS Nagar. 

During the meeting, various matters related to compliance of the decisions of meeting of NGT Monitoring Committee were discussed and reviewed. Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar emphasized on effective checking and implementation of the Single Used Plastic ban in the district. 

In this regard officers of Local Bodies, GMADA and PPCB were directed to engage with local NGOs, self help groups and create awareness among the people. Further, all the departments were also instructed to stop use of Single Use Plastic in their offices and declare their office premises’ as Single Use Plastic free.

DC SAS Nagar also reviewed the status of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) installed by Local Bodies, GMADA, PSIEC & PWSSB and directed the Concerned Authority to comply with the prescribed standards and adhere to the timelines for installation and upgradation of STPs. 

The status of segregation & disposal of solid waste, legacy waste, leachate, Construction & Demolition waste and E-waste was also reviewed in the meeting.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Amardeep Singh Gujral, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Mrs. Pooja S. Grewal and various administrative officers were specially present.
