District Administration Kickstarts Plantation Drive To Set Up Nagar Van In 40 Acres Of Forest Area

District Administration SAS Nagar today kickstarted the work for Nagar Van in 40 acres of forest area by carrying out a plantation drive in the new jungle park which is to be established by the forest department.Disclosing this Kanwar Deep Singh, IFS, DFO, Mohali said that during the inauguration of this massive drive Amit Talwar, Deputy Commissioner was present along with School children from various schools, personnel from CRPF battalion of CM security and other NGOs. 

All the participants planted the trees to start the work of the park.The District Forest Officer said that the Nagar Van Mullanpur will be the largest Jungle Park in the New Chandigarh region which is being established under the Grant from Central government, Ministry of environment forest and climate change. 

He said that it will cover around 40 acres area of forest, with 3 km of nature trail, Bridges on natural choes, ponds for birds and more than 5000 native trees of different species. The park will be fully fenced and secured for the residents of the area to enjoy and spend leisure time in the forest.

During the launch of this drive Mr. Amit Talwar, DC, SAS Nagar said that amidst the Rapid urbanization in the region of New Chandigarh the park was specifically a boon for the locals so that they can stay close to nature.DFO said the park will be ready by next year and the same will be open to the public. Moreover, with this park in the new Chandigarh region will get twin sites of Siswan dam and Nagar Van Mullanpur for recreation.
