To give further momentum to the cooperative movement in District Poonch, an awareness camp was today organised by the Cooperative Department, here today.Scores of farmers from across the district, including border blocks of Balakote, Mendhar, besides Mandi, Surankote etc participated in the Camp.   

The event was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Abdul Sattar  in the presence of Deputy Registrar,  Vishal Deep Chandan  and district Audit officer, Adnan Rather.

At the outset, the farmers were apprised of the various aspects of cooperative movement including the online registration procedure, benefits of cooperative institutions like democratic management, collective efforts, forward and backward linkages, market linkages etc.Distribution of 20 registration certificates among beneficiaries remained the major highlights of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Poonch assured to extend full support to cooperative farmers and assured that gradually these farmers and cooperative institutions will be covered/absorbed under different food processing projects/schemes being implemented by the District Administration in the coming months.

Giving the message of "Sahakar se Samridhi", the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Poonch gave an elaborate presentation about the functioning of cooperative institutions all over the world. He apprised the farmers about the various successful case studies from the UT and all over India.

Highlighting the role of the cooperative department as "Friend, guide and philosopher", the Deputy Registrar assured the cooperative farmers of all the possible help and assistance. He further elaborated that Cooperative institutions form an important and crucial component of GOI's vision of "Doubling Farmers income by 2022". 

They are in fact the future of farming enterprises and startups.Sharing his experience, the District Audit officer Poonch stressed the need for developing a culture of learning from success stories from other districts like Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua, etc where successful cooperatives are running.

The farmers were also apprised about Yuva SAHAKAR Yojana and Ayushman Sahakar Yojna and various eligibility criteria. The queries raised by the participating farmers / beneficiaries were answered in detail like "how to start the business", the documents to be maintained, "the election procedure" and how to enroll new members " etc.The event ended with a vote of thanks.
