DC Kupwara chairs NCORD meeting; discusses remedial measures

The District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) today met here with Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir in chair.The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern, age group of addicts, hot spots of drug use and cultivation of illicit poppy, cannabis in the district.

The meeting also discussed establishment of a drug rehabilitation Centre in Kupwara and constitution of Tehsil level committees for destruction of illicit Poppy/cannabis. The meeting also discussed at length various remedial measures and the DC passed on various directions for achieving 100 percent success. 

Earlier, the DC received feedback from the participants of the meeting. Regarding awareness, the DC stressed upon all stakeholders to launch a massive awareness campaign across the length and breadth of the district, involving people from all walks of life including school children, youth, PRIs and the target public.

He urged for conducting Symposium, Seminars and Workshops in Government institutions regarding drug addiction and its ill effects on society.SSP Kupwara, SP Handwara, ADC Kupwara, CMO, CEO, Divisional Forest Officer Kamraj /Kehmil/Langate, all Tehsildars, Excise & Taxation Officer, Baramulla /Kupwara, Drug Controller Kupwara and other concerned attended the meeting.
