The trailer for Pankaj Tripathi’s upcoming film Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is finally out. And as expected, Pankaj’s dialogue delivery and acting are on point. Not to leave Sayani Gupta behind, her desi regional look and accent forced us to love her even more. The trailer depicts a simple man fighting both wild animals and bureaucratic corruption at the same time.
The trailer shows Gangaram's narrative (played by Pankaj). Gangaram joins the infamous tiger practice and wishes to give up his life so that the families of his village might benefit from the government scheme promised to assist tiger attack victims' families. When he reaches the forest to await his doom, he encounters Jim (essayed by Neeraj Kabi, who is a poacher). The film, which is said to be based on true occurrences, explores the negative impacts of urbanisation, man-animal conflict, and how poverty can lead to strange habits, pushing humanity to the verge of extinction. Tripathi also compares himself with Bhagat Singh and decides to sacrifice himself, much to the anger of his wife, played by Sayani Gupta.
The trailer then sheds its satirical tone and turns into a courtroom drama with a message. Moreover, popular singer KK, who died on May 31, has crooned his last song for the film Sherdil. The song still remains unreleased, and KK recorded the track a few months back in April. The film Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga released on June 24, has been written and directed by Srijit Mukherji.
