To commemorate World no tobacco Day, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) of 1st J&K Girls Battalion NCC Srinagar of Government College for Women Udhampur today organized a skit on the theme “Eradicate Tobacco & Save the Environment” here at College campus. Principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Monika Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.Throwing light on the burning topic, Dr. Monika Sharma said that use of cigarette and other tobacco products should be discouraged by generating awareness among youth. 

She urged the students to come forward to disseminate the information among the common masses. She also appreciated the efforts of the cadets and encouraged them to participate in such awareness activities in near future also. Earlier, NCC ANO, Prof Shallu Jasrotia gave a brief about the event. The main idea behind celebrating the day was to create awareness regarding the harmful effects of smoking and tobacco products consumption on our health, environment and social life etc.

Meanwhile, the NCC cadets presented a skit based on the theme of Eradicate Tobacco & Save the Environment for generating awareness about various deadly diseases caused by use of tobacco which was highly applauded by the audience.Later, a pledge was given to the students and teachers that they will say no to tobacco and work towards making the society tobacco-free.Among others, Dr. Seema Sharma HOD Music, Prof Kewal Kumar HOD Chemistry, Prof Sarika Mahajan, HOD Electronics,  Sumita Rao Assistant Prof. Zoology, Prof Sanjay Kumar HOD Philosophy,  Yash Kumar Assistant Prof. of Music, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Assistant Prof Music, teaching & non teaching staff and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
