Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today handed over sewing machines to Priority Households (PHH)/ Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries here at a brief ceremony held in the Conference Hall of DC office complex.The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society, said the move aims to create avenues of growth through capacity building and skill development.He said that the District Social Welfare Department has been entrusted with the responsibility to hone the skills of identified beneficiaries to enable them to work as a Self Help Group.Pertinently, the District Red Cross unit has roped in PRIs to identify women belonging to poor (PHH/ AAY) background who have knowhow about basic skills required for operating Sewing Machines so that they can become self-reliant and use their skill set for Sustainable livelihood.
