The Red Cross Societies and District administration, in collaboration with the Health and Educational institutions organised varied activities to mark the Red Cross Day.At Jammu: Indian Red Cross Society, District branch Jammu   celebrated World Red Cross Day at Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar.ADC Jammu, Satish Kumar Sharma was the Chief guest while Deputy Secretary, School Education, Manu Hansa and AD, CAPD, Vipan Bhagat were present as guests of honour.

A variety cultural program was presented by the artists and students- featuring songs, skits. A symposium on the importance of the Day, painting competition and a painting exhibition by the renowned Artist, Suresh Sharma on hazardous consequences of drug menace, besides a blood donation camp was also organised by the Indian Red Cross Society District Jammu.  

AT DODA

World Red Cross Day on the theme “BeHumanKind" was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal at district headquarters to pay tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross. To mark the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant”, District Red Cross Society Doda organized a Blood Donation Camp at the Blood Bank of Associated hospital GMC Doda.District Development Commissioner (Chairman District Red Cross Society Doda) Vikas Sharma inaugurated the camp in presence of ACR Doda, CMO  Doda, DIO Doda, DYSSO Doda and HOD Blood Bank of the Associated Hospital.

ACR Doda Sanjeev Kumar, volunteers, Army and para military personnel donated the blood during the camp at Blood Bank of GMC Doda.The DDC Doda also flagged off a rally of Red Cross Volunteers, NCC cadets and students from Government Higher Secondary School Boys Doda. A symposium and painting competition was also held at Government Higher Secondary School Boys Doda in which seven Government and private schools of Doda Town participated.

 Eye screening camps for cataracts and general health screening check ups were also  organised at the Associated Hospital  and at all  Medical Block headquarters of the district by the health department in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society  . Masks and sanitiser were also distributed among participants at GHSS Boys Doda.

AT POONCH

A students’ rally   was flagged off by District Development Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet who is also the Chairman of the District Red Cross Society from Krishan Chander Park Poonch.The rally culminated at Govt Girls Hr. Sec. School Poonch where speakers, Students from different  schools participated and highlighted the importance of the Red Cross movement.The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sr. Lecturer DIET Poonch, Haroon Rathore.

Students shed light on how World Red Cross Society helps others without any discrimination across the world.Cash prizes were presented to the students who spoke on the occasion.Principal Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School Poonch, Anjuman Shaheen  thanked all the participants and the guests.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated a blood donation camp at the blood bank of  Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch. Around 29 units of blood were donated by the Jawans of 93 Infantry Brigade Poonch under and a civilian.

At UDHAMPUR

An impressive function was organized by District Administration Udhampur to celebrate the world Red Cross day on the theme " Be Humankind" here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.Earlier, Secretary District Red Cross Society, V.P Sharma gave a detailed account of the various activities conducted by the society in the District. A symposium on the topic “Be Humankind" was held in which 9 students drawn from different government schools participated. 

They threw light on the philanthropic services of the Red Cross Society and  highlighted its role in saving precious lives during natural calamities. Mehak Devi of Government Girls High School clinched 1st Position while Anmol Sharma of Higher Secondary School Jaganoo and Ankush Kumar of Shaheed Inspector Kamal Singh Model Higher Secondary School Boys Udhampur bagged second and third positions, respectively.Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.

AT RAJOURI

To pay tribute to the founder of the Red Cross Movement, Jean Henry Dunant, the District Administration Rajouri  organised a grand program   in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow. Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal was the chief guest. A blood donation camp was also organised during the event.Officers and officials from the Health Department; KK Langher and civil society members were also present at the program. Similar programs and blood donation camps were also organised in all the health blocks of the district.

 AT Reasi

The Red Cross Day function started with a flag hoisting ceremony by chief guest District Development Commissioner Babila Rakwal followed by Red Cross Pledge and Prayer by the gathering, members of Indian Red Cross Society and Red Cross volunteers.The students of GHSS Reasi presented a patriotic song, while School and College students participated in a symposium on the theme  Be Humankind.    

 At Kathua

District Red Cross Society (DRCS) Kathua hosted a symposium   on the theme "Be Humankind" ( Save Humanity) in which school and college students participated.The programme started with offering of Floral tributes to the founder of the Red Cross by Chief guest ACR Sandeep Seointra. The Students threw light on the  Red Cross  movement  started to help the people in distress.Aisha Malhotra of GDC Kathua bagged first position, Suresh Pasvan of Government Higher Secondary School Kathua and Abhinandan Singh of GDC Kathua were adjudged second and third, respectively. 

 At Kishtwar

To Commemorate the World Red Cross Day,  Indian Army in association with District Red Cross Society and health Department  organized a Blood donation camp   District Civil Hospital Kishtwar.The blood donation camp was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner  Ashok Sharma.In all, 42 spirited and motivated soldiers of 11 Rashtriya Rifles (DOGRA) donated their Blood to the Bank displaying the spirit that strengthens the Bond between Awam and Jawan.Blood donation certificates were presented to the jawans by DDC Kishtwar, while the Red Cross society distributed masks and sanitizers among the donors.

At Ramban

District Administration Ramban in collaboration with the Health and Education Department observed World Red Cross Day across the district  to broaden the  people’s understanding of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam   motivated the people to take part in all activities carried out by the District Red Cross Society, Ramban from time to time for the betterment of needy people and accident victims in the district.  

Mega functions were held at District Hospital Ramban and all Medical Block headquarters besides other health Institutions of the district to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross Movement, Sir Jean Henry Dunant.SDM, Banihal, Zaheer Abbas Bhat, 

Medical Superintendent, DH, Ramban, Dr. Mehboob Khan, BMO Banihal, Dr. Rabia, BMO Gool, Dr. Bashir, BMO Ukhral, Dr. Iqbal, BMO Batote Dr. Osmani Saudi  and various other senior officers, NGOs attended the programmes.Meanwhile, Health checkup camps and blood donation drives were also commenced in the district.   Meanwhile, the Educational institutions organized different activities   like Painting competition, Symposium, Skit, and Seminars on the theme of World Red Cross Day 2022  'BeHumanKind'    in which students, teachers and other stakeholders participated.
