The Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar today urged upon the officers and PRIs to ensure coordinated efforts in formulating the new developmental plan for current financial year so that assets of public utility could be created in the border district Kupwara in a better way.The Additional Commissioner was addressing a Mega Block Diwas programme organized by District Administration Kupwara at Environmental Hall Handwara.Chairman DDC Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din; ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; DDC Member Rajwar, Suliman Mir; DDC Member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmad Dar, BDC Chairperson; PRIs and public in large participated in the block diwas programme.
The Additional Commissioner said that the essence of three tier panchayati raj system is that the developmental plans are being formulated as per the requirements of public. He said the present Government is committed to provide equitable development in the urban as well as rural areas especially hilly and border areas of Kupwara district.He said that the UT Government has already initiated a committed and strong grievance redressal mechanism which ensures fast public delivery system. He said the government has virtually percolated down to panchayat level where local public issues are being addressed locally by the line departments and PRIs in a best coordinated manner.The Chairman DDC in his address put forth issue for posting of Tehsildars lying vacant in some tehsils of the district.
He thanked the Divisional Administration for participating in block diwas programme at district level.Deputy Commissioner in his address asked the officers to identify the gaps and find out the solutions for developmental issues of the people. He said that area specific problem needs area specific solution for which he directed the line departments and PRIs to manage coordinated efforts in resolving the public issues. DDC Members also spoke on the occasion.Earlier, PRIs and senior citizens projected various developmental issues of the area before the chair.
Officers from Administration also spoke and replied the queries raised by the PRIs and the people. They also gave awareness regarding developmental schemes of their respective departments. Later, the Additional Commissioner along with dignitaries visited Biotech Park Handwara and reviewed its developmental process.Block Diwas was also held at Jada village of Tangdar block which was chaired by SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather. PRIs and concerned Officers attended the block diwas. At Sogam, the proceedings of Block Diwas were chaired by SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat in which Officers and PRIs took part and resolved public issues.
