Guru Nanak Dev University under the guidance of our Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu in collaboration with Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology, Department of Education, Govt. of India conducted a five days workshop in the Conference Room of Department of Electronics Technology in UIT Building to construct the engineering terminology in Punjabi language.Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu was the guest of honor during the valedictory function in the today's evening. He advocated that the proliferation of Punjabi language has always been the first priority of Guru Nanak Dev University and University is committed to fulfill its obligation. The major objective of this workshop is to construct the engineering terminology into Punjabi language so that every child of Punjab can read and understand engineering terms in its mother tongue.Mr. Ashok Salwatkar, the Assistant Director, CSTT has applauded the achievement of Guru Nanak Dev University in making plethora of engineering terms into Punjabi language.
The Assistant Scientific officer Sh.Shalendra Singh clarified that the main motive of this workshop is not only to construct the engineering terms from English to Punjabi, rather suggesting the appropriate words in Punjabi so as to conserve the sense and meaning of those technical terms.The workshop coordinatorDr. Manjinder Singh, Head, Punjabi Department highlighted the achievement of this workshop by disclosing the fact that in these five days more than five thousand engineering words have been successfully constructed into Punjabi language. This will help even the rural youth to study and understand the higher education in engineering in Punjabi language.
Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Co-Cordinator said that even before the start of this workshop, it was decided that atleast five thousand engineering technical words would be transformed in Punjabi language and the aim of conducting this workshop has been successfully defended. Dr. ShaliniBahel, Head, Department of Electronics Technology thanked the guests and appreciated the efforts of all the experts in bringing their mammoth task to reality. Senior faculty members Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Dr. M.L. Singh, Dr. SukhleenBindra and Dr. Ravinder Singh Sawhney were present during the valedictory function. The experts from various engineering domains and Punjabi department Dr. Ravinder Singh Sawhney, Dr. RaminderKaur, Dr. Rajwinder, Dr. Harminder Singh, Dr. MeghaSalwan, Dr. HarinderSohal, Dr. Rajandeep Singh, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. SatinderKaur, Dr. RajanVohra, Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Dr. Rajdeep Singh Sohal, Dr. RamandeepKaur, Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Dr. Harjit Singh performed the transformation work during the entire workshop.
