The District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Anantnag M Y Gorsi today held a preparatory meeting with PRIs of the district regarding the upcoming Vigilance Awareness fortnight, here.The fortnight is being held between 7th and 21st February throughout the UT and vigilance committees at District, Block and Panchayat level have been constituted.The DDC Chairman said that the vigilance awareness fortnight is a transparent platform for people to forth their observations regarding the implementation of National Food Security Act 2013. He said that the PRI members should enthusiastically hold public meetings in their jurisdiction and inform the public about the purpose of the week.He said that the PRI members are aware of the ground situation and as such can provide valuable inputs for deweeding of beneficiary lists and ensure that the deserving beneficiaries are included in the list. He emphasized that transparency and accountability are vital to ensure the aim of the Food Security Act is achieved.Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC Anantnag said that a detailed Panchayat wise calendar will be issued in the coming days and appealed to the common masses to participate in the process. He said that an awareness campaign will also be run on social media for wider dissemination.Various DDC members, BDCs, ADDC, ACP, ACD, DPO, AD Food and DIO Anantnag attended the meeting.
